Newcastle United striker Ayoze Perez admits he had an offer from Real Madrid last season.
Perez was wanted by Real Madrid Castilla.
"Yes, it's true. There was interest from Madrid. We were close to a deal but I decided not to go," he recalled to AS.
Before joining the Toon, Porto coach Julen Lopetegui also attempted to sign him.
"I was very, very close to going there. But in the end the little details made the transfer difficult, not everything was clear. Then Newcastle came and that made me feel important and I chose them."
