Ayew tells Swansea they must 'man up'

Swansea City striker Andre Ayew has told his teammates to toughen up if their to avoid relegation.

Saturday's loss to Chelsea pushed the Swans to within one point of the drop zone.

"We are men, I think we are men," said Ayew. "If we want to stay in the Premier League we have to battle for it.

"The reason I am here is to make sure that we stay up and I am ready for any challenge and what is important for me is at the end of the last game that Swansea are in the Premier League.

"If we are going to save ourselves then the sooner and earlier the better. But if it is on the last day then it is on the last day.

"But I believe we have quality and determination and mental strength.

"We are doing well and training hard and the lads are showing a lot of power – mental power, mental strength.

"It is difficult when you leave and you have played such a wonderful game and you don't get the points.

"Here, at least if we don't concede in the first 10 minutes then it is a whole different game.

"We need to stay calm and listen to the coach's advice and I am very confident that we will make it.

"We are men and need to deal with any situation. We need to assume and take responsibility and make sure that we are up at the of the season."
