The FFA want the Newcastle United striker to remain involved in the national team until after the 2010 World Cup. However, his less than impressive start to his career at Tyneside has made Viduka think twice about turning out for the Socceroos.
The former Middlesbrough hitman feels his involvement with the national team in their Asian Cup 2007 in July has left him feeling fatigued.
Viduka though, has earlier voiced his intention about giving up international football and to focus on playing for the Magpies. The FFA are ready to make a compromise with the 32-year-old.
In an interview with the Journal, he admitted that he hasn't made a decision about his international future yet.
"I'm going to have a meeting with the new manger (Pim Verbeek) and we'll discuss it. I've spoken to him on the phone and they want me to carry on playing," said Viduka
"We'll have a good chat in the New Year and we'll see what happens from there.
"There has been talk of coming to a compromise where I won't be asked to play in all the World Cup qualifiers. It's pretty hectic, there are midweek games where I'd have to fly to Australia or Iraq and that takes it out of you."
