Australian national team captain Lucas Neill has implored those who got called up this week to really give their all if selected for next week's friendly with Saudi Arabia.
Socceroos manager Holger Osieck has put together a 19-man squad for the AAMI Park meeting with eight of those players being picked from the A-League.
Neill is aware that it is a big jump from Australia's domestic league to international level and has warned the new players coming in that they must be on their game if they want to make the grade.
"People have to realise that if you get picked to play for Australia it might be your only chance and you have to take that chance.
"You have to play with pride in the shirt. It should be the pinnacle of your career, the highest honour.""We're in a situation now with the A-League and the national team where we have to be careful not to get too carried away," the Al Jazira defender told The Sunday Telegraph. "It's still a massive step to go from it to the international scene.
