Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo admits they tried to prise Guti away from Real Madrid before the start of the season.

"Guti is a phenomenal player, but unfortunately was unable to come," said Cerezo. "Atletico were all ready to welcome him ... but it wasn't to be."
