Atletico Madrid threaten Newcastle plans for Arsenal striker Lacazette

Newcastle United are facing serious competition as they attempt to sign Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette.

The Magpies are eager to add the French striker in January as they attempt to give new manager Eddie Howe the attacking weapons to avoid relegation.

However, Spanish outlet La Razon indicates that Atleti are interested in Lacazette as an alternative to Red Bull Salzburg starlet Karim Adeyemi.

While they would prefer to sign the 19-year-old hot shot, he is wanted by a series of top clubs, and may have a significant price tag in January or the summer transfer windows.

Lacazette is out of contract this summer, which means he can sign for free at the end of the season, or for a modest fee in January.
