Atletico Madrid midfielder Llorente: Simeone and I had problems last season

Atletico Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente admits he didn't get along with coach Diego Simeone at the beginning of last season.

Simeone did not place a lot of faith in the 25-year-old to start with, but once Llorente began to adjust his play and move his position further up the pitch, acting more as a second striker, he began to get more minutes and rewarded his coach with some excellent performances.

"He discovered me and I reinvented myself," Llorente told Radio MARCA when asked about Simeone.

"You can put a player in and not give up [with them]; he has his share of the blame and I have mine."

Llorente has been called up to the Spain during this set of international fixtures, and he has made clear that he has to adjust the way he plays under Simeone at Atletico and Luis Enrique with La Roja.

"I have been told the same as at the club; I have to adapt to the style of play and every coach has one here," he stated.

"We are also facing two different ideas in terms of style, but they ask you to adapt as much as possible to that, as well as to your teammates."
