Atletico Madrid are interested in Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino.

Firmino's current deal is running down this season.

Mundo Deportivo says a resurgence in form has seen calls for a new, short-term deal, and Jurgen Klopp has insisted for some time that talks over said contract have been ongoing.

But with less than six months now left on the 31-year-old's deal, he is free to discuss a pre-contract arrangement with clubs outside of England - like Atletico.

The report states that Cody Gakpo's arrival has left Firmino uncertain over his future, with the Anfield favourite now 'displaced' by the arrivals of the Dutchman along with Darwin Nunez.

Despite the speculation, the belief on Merseyside is that Firmino will extend his stay for at least one more season, but until a new contract is signed and sealed, the forward's future remains in doubt.
