Atletico Madrid fullback Lucas Hernandez frustrated after Bayern Munich defeat

Atletico Madrid fullback Lucas Hernandez was left frustrated after their Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.

Hernandez does not believe they could have done much more to prevent the 1-0 defeat.

The Frenchman praised the quality of the German champions, as well as the effort of his teammates.

"We tried our best right to the end, but it wasn't to be," the 20-year-old told BeIN Sports after the full-time whistle.

"We were up against a great opponent.

"We have to keep doing what we're doing because we're on the right path."

Admitting that he was pleased on a personal level for the chance to play at the Allianz Arena, Hernandez insisted that the biggest prize was to be part of the Atletico Madrid team.

"On an individual level I felt good," he said afterwards.

"To play 94 minutes with teammates who gave everything they had is an honour for me."
