Atletico Madrid coach Simeone 'very happy' after Celtic draw

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone was delighted with his players for their 2-2 draw at Champions League opponents Celtic.

Rodrigo de Paul saw red late on as Atletico struck via Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata.

Simeone said: “I'm very happy with the team's performance. We played the match to win it in the second half.

"In the first half, they played better and found goals with their first two shots, which set the game up so that we couldn't play the way we wanted to. We spoke at half-time and said that we had to play with courage, with hierarchy, with attacks, creating goalscoring opportunities. And we did that.

"We could have won it with that kind of courage. I leave the match feeling happy with my team."

He also said: “Llorente did very well when he came on. So did Correa, who added a lot in the attack in the last part of the game. And Riquelme had a very good second half with his speed in a sector of the pitch where during the first half we had suffered. The entire team had a good second half and this is the way forward in the Champions League."
