Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone was pleased with their 1-0 win at Granada on Monday night.
Alvaro Morata struck for the 1-0 victory.
Simeone said: "Yes, we needed to win a game away from home to give us another result. The first half we couldn't play the game we imagined. The second half for 30 minutes was good... there were plays, Saúl's shot.
"The team showed another side. The opponent has a need and we couldn't generate counterattacks so we had to defend ourselves. This result for the group and the team is very important.
"We have to improve defensively. A work that begins in me and in the people who carry it out. We need more intensity in duels, which is where the team grows. The team that is better at duels has more chances.
"The result leaves you focused on the game. We don't handle it with 3-2 with Madrid or Girona. This time we did know how to manage. Now to rest for Thursday for a game that will be a duel or a fight."
