Atletico Madrid coach Simeone: Getafe deserve their draw

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone was left frustrated after their 3-3 draw with Getafe.

Simeone saw defender Stefan Savic sent off for Atletico, while Getafe striker Juan Mata escape a red card.

He later said: "After playing the fourth game every three days, being left with one less with so many games ahead of us, the boys made a huge effort. We were able to take the lead and in the end we couldn't sustain Getafe's good attack.

"A tough, difficult game, we knew it. 11 against 11 we had it pretty well controlled. Then it cost us more, even though we had an advantage. We had to make a forced change, that of Marcos (Llorente), who had a different idea.

"We had to do something else to compensate for Marcos' situation."

"We had thought about the game with Memphis, we saw him doing well. He went from less to more in the field, growing. This situation was annulled due to the referee's interpretation.

"Savic's expulsion led to a change in the plan, retreating into 5-3-1. We took the lead three times. In the end they forced, generated, threw crosses, they have tall people and possibly they deserved the draw."
