Atletico Madrid sports chief Jesus Garcia Pitarch has confirmed plans to extend the loan of Barcelona midfielder Thiago Motta into next season.

"We are still waiting to hear from Barcelona, but the club wants Motta to continue and he also wants to stay with Atletico. We want to enjoy Motta for a year more and he also wants to play for Atletico for a longer period," said Pitarch, who also insisted Jose Antonio Reyes would remain with the club.

"I am convinced that yes, he will stay - unless he does not want to continue with Atletico. We cannot keep changing eight or ten players every year."
