Athletic Bilbao are ready to move for PSG midfielder Ander Herrera.

Le 10 Sport says Athletic are preparing a bid for the former Manchester United ace, who has struggled for form and fitness in his first season in Paris.

PSG are open to offers for Herrera and former club Athletic are keen.

Just last week, Herrera stated: "I was immensely happy in Bilbao, but I am from Zaragoza, which is something I have never hidden. My hope is to enjoy Paris, win titles with PSG and one day be able to return home, which is Zaragoza.

"I have always said that my ideal club would be like what Athletic is. I have been extremely lucky to have been able to play for Athletic and enjoy its philosophy, but my hope is to return to Zaragoza, the club I am from since I was a child, of which I am still a member and I will continue to be the rest of my life, the club that my daughters are from."

However, with Real Zaragoza no guarantee for promotion from the Segunda this season, Athletic are firming as favourites should PSG encourage Herrera to leave.
