Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini was delighted after their 5-2 win at Monza.
The result sees La Dea finish fifth and qualify for the Europa League next season.
Gasperini later said: "It's a great achievement, it doesn't seem like much because we've done 3 years in a row in the Champions League and it was extraordinary but we're happy.
"We scored 64 points, we've always been close to the best apart from Napoli. A championship finish in the European area, thanks to the team."
He also said: "Having reached Europe is a great goal. Last year we narrowly missed out, this year we finished fifth in front of Roma. A revenge for those who said that a cycle had ended?
"The past was a particular year, we had the numbers for Europe and then we didn't reach the finish line. This year we've always been in the Europe zone, from the first to the last, I think it's a record for Atalanta."
Asked if a the support of the fans will be a factor over whether he will stay, he added: "It's a gift for my career, it fills me with happiness and it's something that weighs heavily. I have a great relationship with the whole club. I think it's right to clarify on the real goals, on what the team needs to do, then we'll see."
