Atalanta agree wide ranging partnership with banking group

Atalanta have struck a multifaceted partnership with Italian banking group Intesa Sanpaolo, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

The Turin-headquartered company has been named the Serie A club's official banking partner and the main sponsor for Atalanta's youth teams.

The length and financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, but Intesa Sanpaolo, along with public bank Istituto per il Credito Sportivo (ICS), has also signed a €40 million (US$47.2 million) loan for the renovation of the Gewiss Stadium.

The venue will expand to 24,000 seats, with the work due to finish by the end of 2021. In May 2019, Atalanta confirmed energy and lighting products manufacturer Gewiss as the naming rights holder for their home ground to help fund the project.

Additionally, the Gewiss Stadium's grandstand will be renamed Rinascimento – or 'Renaissance' – in support of the programme launched by Intesa Sanpaolo and the city of Bergamo to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. The bank has supported the city and surrounding area of late by offering help to local businesses, startups and third sector organisations.
