Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is joining Aston Villa.

The Daily Mail says Villa have won the chase to sign Johnstone on loan with Jose Mourinho recalling Joel Pereira from top-flight Portuguese club Belenenses as cover.

Villa manager Steve Bruce has targeted a new stopper since taking over from Roberto Di Matteo in October.

Mark Bunn replaced Italian Pierluigi Gollini for Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Cardiff that left them 12th in The Championship.
