Aston Villa face being dumped by their major sponsor.

The Sunday Mirror says their £16m deal with Genting expires at the end of the season and the Malaysian company have no plans to renew it.

It leaves Villa in the tough position of trying to find a new sponsor, while their Premier League status is under threat.

A source said: "With the state of the economy and the fact Villa have been doing so badly, this is the worst time for the club to have to look for a new sponsor.

"Sponsorship is a very tough market at the moment and Villa could lose a lot of money."
