Aston Villa are weighing up a move for West Ham United striker Carlton Cole.

The Daily Mail says the England international, 26, has been one of the few shining lights for West Ham in their troubled season and his sale would upset supporters. However, Villa are ready to test West Ham's resolve in the summer with a bid of around £10m.

Cole was linked with Liverpool in January and insisted last week he was happy at Upton Park.
