Aston Villa are weighing up a bid for Manchester United defender Jonny Evans.

The Express & Star says Villa could turn to the experience of Evans, as manager Tim Sherwood looks to rebuild his squad.

Sherwood is likely to show a number of players the door this summer and wants Evans, who has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

He feels the Northern Ireland international, still just 27, can spearhead Villa's defence and will try to haggle down his £10million asking price.
