Aston Villa owners seek Aussie expansion

Aston Villa's holding company, V Sports are ready to fund a new team in Australia.

There is a suggestion that a Canberra-based team would be added to expand the A-League.

FTBL states that V Sports are seeking a partner in the venture that will allow them to add to their global array of clubs.

V Sports owns Real Union, Vissel Kobe, ZED FC and Vitoria Sport Clube, along with Aston Villa.

The club's owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens are said to be working on the project with the Australian Professional Leagues.

The goal is to have a team up and running for the 2024-2025 season, when an Auckland team is also joining.
