Aston Villa are closing in on Micah Richards according to reports.

The 26-year old defender is set to leave Manchester City as a free agent when his contract expires at the end of June and is set to join Villa.

Full-back Richards spent last season on loan with Italian club Fiorentina is a reported target for the likes of Liverpool, Sunderland and Newcastle United but multiple reports suggest Villa have won the race for his services.

During his time at City, the 13-time England international won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup, appearing more than 240 times for the club.
