Aston Villa midfielder McGinn: Good win against Palace - but we can do more

Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn has admitted that his side still have a lot of work to do.

The Midlands club dominated possession and deservedly beat Crystal Palace 1-0 in the Premier League at the weekend.

McGinn, who often plays from the wing under Emery, admits they still have a lot to learn under their Spanish coach.

“The desperation [to score] probably didn't help when I got a couple of opportunities today – the second one, I slipped," he told Villa TV.

“It was a great ball (for a header) in the first instance from Leon and the second one I just lost my footing. It will come. I'm getting in the positions and hopefully next week is the time."

“It was good. It's a little bit of mixed emotions for me," McGinn said after the game.

“I know we're getting a bit greedy after three points but when they go down to ten men, we've got to handle that better.

“We ground out the three points, but we kept giving the ball away and I'm sure the manager won't be pleased with the second-half performance. It's a win; we've been craving a win here for a while, so it's great to get the three points and have the opportunity to look up [the table] not down."
