Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan is confident they'll avoid the drop.

Bannan believes Villa have enough quality to move out of trouble and has been encouraged by their performance in the previous two home games with Manchester United and Arsenal.

He said: "It hurts when people tip the club to struggle this season.

"But it's up to us to prove them wrong - and that's what we will do.

"In that changing room we've got quality. We're a bit young but I think we are confident in our own ability.

"We acquitted ourselves well against Manchester United and Arsenal but I think our season starts now with the games we've got up and coming.

"We all know in the changing room that they are winnable games."
