Argentina shot stopper Emi Martinez showed his emotional side at the Best FIFA Awards.

The Aston Villa goalkeeper was honored as the top men's goalkeeper for his World Cup heroics.

Martinez saved penalties in shoot outs and made other important stops during matches to help Argentina to the trophy.

He edged Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois and Morocco stopper Yassine Bounou to the award.

“They always asked me who my idols are or who I watched when I was a kid," said Martinez at the ceremony, fighting back tears.

“Watching my mum cleaning buildings for eight or nine hours and watching my dad work, they are my idols."
