Aston Villa are closing on a deal for West Brom defender Joleon Lescott.

The Daily Star Sunday says Villa are close to a £2.5million move for Lescott.

But Villa may have to wait to complete the deal as the Baggies' attempt to sign Spurs' Argentine centre-back Federico Fazio for £5m has broken down.

The arrival of Fazio, 28, was expected to see former England centre-half Lescott move across Birmingham to Villa Park.
