Aston Villa captain John McGinn admits he is driven by not being squeezed out of the club.
McGinn concedes the ambitions of manager Unai Emery is a motivating factor.
We've had many ups and many downs here and it's not nice trundling down that tunnel, knowing you've let them down," he says. "There's a real sense of pride leading the team out at the start of a journey in European group stage football. It's been an amazing journey but I'm sure the supporters will agree we don't want to stop there. We need to keep going."
McGinn adds: "He [Emery] dreams the same way we dream. He is patient when it comes to his ideas and tactics, but he is the same as us: he wants to win and he wants to win now. You can see that with how ambitious he is, the signings he is making.
"It's up to us as player. You either get on board with it, get on the train and improve to a level where he wants to get to, otherwise you'll be shifted out and we've seen that already. Hopefully I can keep improving and keep being part of that group."
