Aston Villa boss Emery 'disappointed' after Everton draw

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery admitted frustration after their 0-0 draw at Everton.

Villa had an Alex Moreo goal denied by VAR in the first-half.

“I'm a little disappointed because we played like we prepared for the match and practiced beforehand," he said.

“We were controlling the game, more or less, for 90 minutes like we were demanding before. It was not easy to do it, playing away at Everton with how they are pushing with their supporters.

“We played like we wanted but one point is not enough. We created chances to score one goal and win the match. We didn't concede too many clear chances to them, only at the end of the first half when Emi saved us.

“We were playing feeling comfortable and feeling confident with our structure, offensively and defensively."

Emery also said: “We adapted to them, respecting the opponent, and we were defending holding our line well and trying to work on their long balls and second actions.

“Also when they were playing in combinations, we were showing passion to recover the ball.

“We tried to impose ourselves when we had the ball and to play with personality and try to beat them."

He added: “Overall, I have to accept the point today and I have to try to be positive.

“Forty-three points on day 21 is good and of course we are going to be ambitious in our next matches. Now we're going to rest a bit and recover our full energy."
