Manchester City have failed with a bumper offer for Real Sociedad midfielder Asier Illarramendi.
The Spain U21 star wants to move to Real Madrid and turned down a bigger contract offer from City to commit to the Spanish giants, says Punto Pelota.
City offered €30 million to Real Sociedad for Illarramendi, including the option for him to spend the coming season on-loan at San Sebastian. Their contract offer was worth five times the youngster's current salary, but he has turned it down to commit to Real Madrid.
