Arsenal whiz Oxlade-Chamberlain: Spirit inside U21 camp helping my form

Arsenal starlet Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain says his success with England U21 is down to the spirit inside the camp.

Oxlade-Chamberlain says the feeling around camp has been completely revitalised since England's disappointing European Championship campaign earlier this year.

"I was involved in the Under-21s in February with the squad that went to the Euros," he told Arsenal Player. "They were quite a mature squad and a bit older.

"I don't know whether I felt I was out of my depth but I didn't feel that comfortable.

"Since I have come back to the younger, new squad that's being put together I think all the boys get on really well. The majority of the squad is made up of 18 and 19-year-olds, which bodes well for the Euros in two years.

"When you do go away with England that's one of the main things if you do get on with your team-mates because obviously you don't see them week-in week-out.

"If you do get on with them it makes it a lot easier to play, train and work hard together. The new team that's being put together is really good - we have a lot of youth mixed with the older heads like Jack Rodwell and Jordan Henderson.

"I'm happy with the way my own performances have gone so far and to score my first hat-trick was pleasing," he added. "It looks good for us in the qualifiers but we just have to keep pushing on."
