Arsenal are confident closing a deal for Ajax defender Jurrien Timber.
The Gunners had an offer of £30m rejected by Ajax a week ago for the Holland international.
However since then, Arsenal have struck personal terms with Timber and seen rivals Bayern Munich end their interest.
Arsenal are willing to raise their offer to £40m in the coming hours, though Ajax are seeking £50m to sell.
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta aims to sign Timber as first-choice as he plans to play three at the back next season with the Dutchman alongside William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.
