Ajax Amsterdam defender Jan Vertonghen admits he may depart the Dutch giants in the near future.
The 23-year old, who has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal recently, knows he has to leave Holland's domestic league if he wants to really improve and says that move is likely to occur.
"Playing Dutch football has made me the footballer I am now," he told Voetbal Primeur.
"But it is clear that if I am still playing here in around five years, I will not reach my peak.
"It's a bit two-sided. It's clear my ambitions are to compete at the top, but I would hate to leave Ajax without helping them become champions."
