Arsenal have tabled a bid for Santos striker Gabriel Barbosa.

ESPN Brasil says Arsenal are leading the race to sign the youngster after making an offer of £15 million.

This offer is likely to be rejected with the Gunners nowhere near Barbosa's £41.6m release clause.

And Santos are determined to keep their prized asset with president Modesto Roma revealing the club are doing everything in their power to stop him leaving.

“Santos will do everything to keep its athletes." Roma stated.

“It's good for Santos and for Lucas Lima that he fulfils the contract.

“And the club wants Gabriel to fulfil his too, unless someone pays the release clause. We are open to talk, to negotiate. The career of a player isn't only based on money."
