Arsenal striker Lacazette winning fitness battle

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette is winning his battle to be ready for the start of the season.

The Gunners frontman is a doubt for their first game of the season against Newcastle United.

However, the French centre-forward is working hard on his recovery from a sprained ankle, which he sustained in their 2-1 defeat to Lyon in the Emirates Cup.

Per The Sun, he will miss their coming preseason game against Angers, but he should be okay for the first game of the season at Newcastle on August 11.

"We are thinking it's not serious [Lacazette injury]," Emery said to reporters recently.

"He tried to continue but he decided with the doctor and with me that as it was a pre-season game it was better to take no more risks."
