Arsenal's Wenger: Vieira should quit inter for World Cup's sake

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes former club captain Patrick Vieira should quit Inter Milan in order to increase his chances of making France's World Cup squad.

France are yet to qualify for the tournament but take a 1-0 lead into their home qualifying leg against the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday but if they do make it, Wenger says his best opportunity to be included in the Les Blues squad is to get out of Milan.

"He must change club in January if he wants to play in the World Cup. He doesn't play enough (at Inter)," Wenger said.

"What he's missing is paying time. To go to the World Cup at his age, you must play. But I think Patrick can regain his starting place for France."
