Arsenal's Giroud: Better start will give us title chance

Olivier Giroud has implored Arsenal to put themselves in a good position to win next season's Premier League title.

The French striker was part of the Gunners side which won 12 of its final 16 league matches last season to finish fourth and he hopes the North London club can take that winning form into the start of the next campaign which kicks off in August.

"If we start better than we did this season, I know that we will compete for the title next year because we are used to playing together now and have improved as a team," he said.

"We have also improved as individuals throughout the season, especially the newcomers like Santi (Cazorla), Lukas (Podolski) and me."

And Giroud was looking to make more of an impact for Arsenal in his second season since joining from Montpellier.

"It was not easy at all. It was a massive challenge," he added.

"I hope that as early as my second season, I can play week in week out and keep scoring regularly because it's key for a striker.

"I scored 17 goals in all competitions and gave 10 assists which, for a first season in England, is good. I am happy with the stats."
