Arsenal are ready to overhaul their defensive options this summer.

Both William Saliba and Konstantinos Mavropanos are returning from loan in the summer and are both in contention to play first team football next season.

On loan Pablo Mari is also likely to join the club permanently, while youth prospect Daniel Ballard is returning from Swindon, and will be assessed by the Arsenal coaches.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta will therefore have a huge pool of defenders to pick from next season, with players including: Sokratis, Rob Holding, Shkodran Mustafi, Calum Chambers, David Luiz, Saliba, Mari, Mavropanos, Ballard, Zech Medley and Joseph Olowu.

The Athletic says three centre-backs likely to be transfer listed this summer are Holding, Sokratis and Mustafi.
