Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is eyeing a midfielder to strengthen his squad this winter.

The Gunners are near the top of the Premier League and are fighting in the Champions League as well.

Per The Mirror, Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz is once again the primary target for the club.

Arteta has been a huge admirer of Luiz for several years, but has been unable to sign him.

The Brazilian has a long-term contract at Villa and is a valuable member of Unai Emery's team.

Given Villa are also fighting for a top four finish, they are not going to give in to Arsenal's demands.

Another they want to sign is Ivan Toney from Brentford, but his price tag may put them off as well.
