Arsenal have been ordered by FIFA to pay £2.3 million to Barcelona for the signing of teenage midfielder Fran Merida.

Merida joined Arsenal last summer for nothing as he hadn't signed a pro deal with Barca at the time.

However, FIFA have ruled in Barca's favour this week and the major fee Arsenal are being ordered to pay could see an end to Premiership clubs raiding Spanish clubs for their best junior talent, says DiarioSport.
