Arsenal midfielder Wilshere overjoyed to be back involved with England

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere made an impressive comeback to the England squad in an otherwise boring scoreless draw against the Republic of Ireland on Sunday.

Wilshere has been missing in action since he suffered an ankle injury in November and was overjoyed to be involved in the national set up again.

The Three Lions created few chances in their tune-up game to next weekend's Euro2016 qualifier against Slovenia.

He told ITV: "Overall, we'll be disappointed. At times we looked like creating something and it broke down. We know we're better than that. Maybe it was to get the cobwebs off after a week off. We'll look where we went wrong.

"It's great to be back and involved in the setup. We don't get much time together so we have to make the most of the times we are together. I know the manager trusts me and we have a great relationship.

"It'll be a different game [against Slovenia]. We do have to be better. We'll learn from this and hopefully we'll get the three points we need."
