Arsenal are chasing Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner. The London Evening Standard says the 30-year-old is out of contract at Juventus at the end of the season and negotiations over an extension have been ongoing for some time.
Lichtsteiner, who is also wanted by Inter Milan, is an experienced Switzerland international and played against England last month.
Arsenal are short of full-backs in their squad. Carl Jenkinson has been sent on loan to West Ham due to doubts over his long-term potential.
Sources in Italy suggest that Arsenal have already made an enquiry for the veteran Swiss defender to fill the void, although manager Arsene Wenger usually prefers to sign younger talent to develop.
