Arsenal legend Wright hits out at West Ham fans over Allardyce complaints

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has hit out at West Ham United fans unhappy with Sam Allardyce's style of play.

The former Hammers striker wrote in The Sun: "By not playing the so-called 'West Ham way' means he will always be on a hiding to nothing with some of them.

"And before I'm accused of having a go at every Hammers fan, I know it's only a section.

"As far as they're concerned, perhaps it's time to wake up and smell the coffee, and just enjoy the fact they're up there again with the likes of Manchester United, City, Arsenal and Chelsea.

"At the end of the day, anyone kicking off about the style of play will do little to help West Ham - or Big Sam's - cause.

"You have to ask where 'the West Ham way' got them in the first place. I'll tell you where - the Championship.

"I was there the last time they really caused a ripple in the Premier League, finishing eighth under Harry Redknapp.

"You must cut your cloth to suit, and what they should be doing is enjoying promotion, rather than those who are moaning about the way they played to get it."
