Arsenal legend Ian Wright has apologised to Gooners on Twitter.

The former Arsenal hero called fans "mugs" in response to the criticism Chelsea left back Ashley Cole was receiving on the social networking site minutes after the Blues' epic win over Bayern Munich. Cole is not a popular figure with Arsenal fans after he left for Stamford Bridge in 2006.

But Wright - who scored 185 goals for the Gunners - tweeted: "Mugs was way out of order! And I apologise unreservedly! To true AFC fans. Who I owe everything."
