Arsenal legend Wright: Fergie should've started Van Persie in Man Utd defeat

Arsenal legend Ian Wright feels Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson's selection played into Everton's hands for last night's defeat.

Wright feels Ferguson missed a trick by starting Robin van Persie on the bench.

He told The Sun: "I know Manchester United were away and Everton are a good side. But there was no real pressure on the Red Devils and they were always going to get a fair amount of space.

"That's why I would have gone with Van Persie from the start.

"I felt there were times, particularly in the first half, when he could have got himself into some decent positions and put Everton on the back foot.

"I am not saying United would have been leading 6-0 had they started with their new Dutch star. But I'd have started him ahead of Danny Welbeck."
