Arsenal legend Wright convinced Kroenke right owner for Gunners

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has welcomed Stan Kroenke's takeover of his old club.

In his column for The Sun, Wright wrote: "It has been a difficult few weeks for the club due to the results so it's nice to having something positive to talk about.

"We should not forget, though, that shareholder Danny Fiszman is selling his 16.1 per cent of shares at this moment because he is seriously ill with cancer and my thoughts are with him and his family.

"Kroenke increasing his share of the club was inevitable but it is still a relief.

"It does not concern me that he is American and not English. The key is for him to have the club at heart while having a strong understanding of how it should be run.

"Kroenke has a good track record, owning other major sports teams including a football side, or rather soccer club - Colorado Rapids. History suggests he's not in this to make a fast buck.

"I'm sure Kroenke will continue to let Arsene Wenger manage the team.

"From what I have read and heard, Kroenke seems to have a bit of class, so hopefully we won't be seeing something tacky like a statue of Michael Jackson appearing outside the Emirates."
