Arsenal legend Ian Wright says Liverpool's Steven Gerrard is the obvious candidate to replace John Terry as England captain.
The Chelsea skipper was stripped of the captaincy yesterday by the FA.
Wright wrote in The Sun: "Hopefully, the captaincy goes to Liverpool's Steven Gerrard, who has previously led England superbly.
"After Terry was initially stripped of the captaincy following his alleged affair with Wayne Bridge's former partner, Rio Ferdinand was handed the armband.
"But unfortunately, I think it's doubtful that Rio will make the squad." "I'd actually like to see Scott Parker of Spurs become his vice-captain.
