Arsenal legend Wenger not proud of Dean claims

Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger has defended himself regarding comments made by referee Mike Dean.

The 52-year-old official, who is retiring at the end of this season, claimed that Wenger is the one manager who intimidated him the most in the Premier League over the past 22 years.

Many had expected Dean to name Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary Manchester United manager, instead.

Wenger said about those comments, per Metro: "Is somebody behind me?

"Are you making jokes tonight?

"I'm not very proud of that."

One incident involving Wenger and Dean came in 2009 against Man United, when Wenger was sent off towards the end of the game and ended up among the United supporters in the stands
