Arsenal legend Campbell delighted as Macclesfield clinch Football League survival

Arsenal legend Sol Campbell has overseen Macclesfield Town's Football League survival.

A 1-1 draw with Cambridge United has seen Macclesfield safe for another season.

"I'm not saying it's Bobby Moore and Pele great escape [Escape to Victory] but it is a little bit like that as well," Campbell said afterwards.

"Most of the pundits were saying no hope and no chance but that's what you can do with commitment. Management is great but it's been a baptism of fire. This is up there with what I've achieved.

"My first job taking a club so many points adrift. Getting through that while everyone is losing their heads and you are keeping calm and making sure you stick to the plan. There was a lot of pressure on me."
