Arsenal and Reiss Nelson have kicked off new contract talks.
The winger's current deal is set to expire at the end of the season. Nelson has been free since January 1 to discuss pre-contract terms with foreign teams.
However, the midfielder's priority has always been to extend his stay with the Gunners.
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported contract talks between the club and him are "currently underway".
Romano adds boss Mikel Arteta would be "happy" to keep Nelson at the Emirates.
Watching developments, meanwhile, are Brighton and Nice.
