Former Arsenal star Freddie Ljungberg has been branded a ‘diva’ in Seattle but Sounders general manager Adrian Hanauer has confirmed it did not come from within the club.
ESPN commentator Kyle Martino said before Seattle’s clash with DC United on the weekend that the Swedish midfielder was looked upon as a diva by his teammates but Hanauer moved quickly to rubbish that claim.
“It’s (Martino’s) opinion,” Hanauer said. “It certainly didn’t come from this group. … Those guys get paid to draw eyeballs and say things that get people intrigued. That was his opinion.”
